Podcastian and 20-year New Yorker Staff Writer Malcolm Gladwell talked with CBSN about the recent shooting at the Pulse night club in Orlando; at one point he refers specifically to the evolving nature of mass shooters as “more normal” than those who came before them – cleverly, he puts his own words in finger-quotes, watch:

Interestingly, in another interview he uses the word ‘common’ instead, so his finger-quotes really do suggest he thinks “normal” is a question unto itself.
